For some reason this rendition only has Pinchik singing the first two paragraphs. If anyone has a recording of him (or anyone else) singing the rest, please post, or contact one of the admins.

I don't fully "get" this song but I suspect it is very poignant commentary on the human condition. Or on friendship. Or on hunger. Or on chocolate milk. Lyrics in the comment.

Gustavo Dudamel at the Proms - Arturo Márquez - Danzón Nº 2

Gustavo the Dude, conducting. Arturo Márquez = 58-year-old Mexican composer. Rocking piece! Something of a latin-jazz-orchestral-marching-band or a variation thereof. :) Symphony is the Venezualan High-school thingamajigger that The Dude is into.

Don't Bother With This Song...

Kol Ha'olam

I mean, it isn't a BAD song per se. But the POINT--the POINT I am trying to make--is the chord progression between 1:03 and 1:09. That's all. Enjoy.

Dror Yikrah - Harei Yehuda

Stay with me here:
A composer-friend of Abie Rotenberg contracted Parkinson's and could no longer compose and play. I don't know if one can contract Parkinson's. I suspect one cannot. I don't know why one cannot compose with Parkinson's. That is so, so, so not the point. Abie and a buncha others made a CD to give him Parnassa.

Now to this song... stay with me still:
The melody has a lot of Yedid Nefesh, that one.

The high harmonies have a bit of The Canticle (Simon and Garfunkel: Parsley, Sage and Other Icky Spices).

REALLY awesome sustain at the end of the high part!

Chorus and vocals from Na nu na nu eh yeh (Mimaamakim. Just remembered).

Lyrics of the extraordinary Shabbat experience.

Great Goyish arrangements expertly imitated—-lifted?-—by the the talented fellers at Lev Tahor.

Oh: Revie Schweibel.

LOVE. ITTTTTTT!

Danse Boheme - Carmen Suite No. 2

From the Georges Bizet opera "Carmen"; You may know it as "Beat Out Dat Rhythm On Da Drum!" from the Broadway show... AWESOME piece! Just played on 96.3 and I tried finding it on Youtube. This is actually a brilliant rendition for a couple o' amateurs (though the lead sounds a bit high-pitched for the first minute or so... probably just imbalanced recording).

Enjoy.

While driving on a dark country road one night a few years ago, trying to pick up some music on the radio, this is the song that came on!

Shmuel

U'vedivrei Kodshecha - Moshe Koussevitzky

This is one of the first pieces I learned from my brother when I was a little boy (SIGH), he changed the ending to fit the Lubavitch nusach so I only knew his warped version, but it's still a wonderful piece.

AVI, you will love the music at about 1:44.
