Machrozet Shabbat • The Revivo Project

What joy, passion, life and love!!! And what an awesome hookah-smoking cow-yingel off the top right corner!
via Shmuel, via Gruntig.

Good Shabbos, good yom tov. Please enjoy a fulfilling time ingesting the humility needed to rise higher, higher, higher in truth. I will not likely post until after Pesach, so Peretz and Shmuel the world is your canvas. Rock and roll, chevra!

Boruch Hoo • Michoel Streicher

Michoel Whom-again? He had some interesting tunes as far as J-pop-wow! music is unconcerned. I think the greatest takeaway from this post is that the tag "Michoel Streicher" already exists. (And funny that my thoughts then are apparently my thoughts now.)

Fifer/Yankel • Monday Matchup

A young boy grows into an old fool. What eventually happens? How do his parents react? And what does this come to show? This Monday-matchup is your invitation to felafesize on the topic.

Moshe Yess - "Rabbi Yitzchak Levi Fifer" - (Album: Shabbos on my mind)

Abie Rotenberg - "Yankel" - (Album: Journeys II)

Niggun Lecha Dodi • Moshe Yess

The recording is called Shabbos on My Mind; 12 tracks in all, two about Shabbos ("If I would have the might" and "Shabbos on my mind") and this, the final of the album that says without saying a thing, You know that I've got Shabbos on my mind.

Good Shabbos, friends. a

Self-composed, a bissele opera, eh? Pretty good meaning/expression alignment.

Yerushalayim • Abie Rotenberg

It's Monday Match-up!

The idea generally, is two singers or songs with similar lyrical content that you may compare using any metric you desire. This match-up in particular pits two different channels of the same singer with similar lyrical content. What do you think of each and why?

Abie Rotenberg and Journeys.

Abie Rotenberg and Shlomo Simcha.

May we sing these and many more, right away, in Yerushalayim eternally!

The Wagoneer • Dovid Negin (Yess Legacy)

The good thing about a world-class lyricist is that no matter how the performer performs, the soul will always come through in the poetry. This is from the Yess Legacy; I don't remember hearing it on any recordings but do remember Moshe Yess performing it in summer camp, circa 1995.

Good Shabbos!

Little Kite • Journeys II

What is Journeys? Journeys is a collection of songs that are not afraid to ask questions out loud. Little Kite is the philosophy behind this confidence. Someone once said: If you think G-d is made up, it's because you think you could make Him up.

Alright, let's do this! • Poll ends tonight

Dear Friends, Fans and Followers,

A popular Jewish organization is preparing a tribute to Avraham Fried's 30 years of performing. The content director is soliciting thoughts from fans on their personal favorite songs. Let's offer the ShirShelYom collective mind on the topic, shall we?

See the poll to the right for a start. Click the "Fried" label down the right margin for more ideas. See this list of recordings for bonus thinking. Put your reflections in the comments, including your reason for choosing a given title. Poll ends this evening.

Good luck and good thinking!

Mountain Dew • Moshe Yess

Earlier this week, the Yess Legacy was finally released--a range of performers covering 29 songs from the mind-blowing catalogue of Moshe Yess and Moshe Yess himself covering the old drinking song "Mountain Dew". I don't have the new CD, but I do have the original Mountain Dew and now you do too.

Thanks Yanky A. for keeping this stuff going!
