Yiddish Jems (Hebrew) - Yackov

IIRC Mendy Kaplan from Safed wrote the Hebrew lyrics. Listening to this, I decided that he's a true genius! He translated (almost) every word accurately, i.e. didn't add or remove words to re-write the story, and managed to keep them as a rhyme.

Enjoy.

Another one of those songs that I didn't care for too much as a kid, but now brings tears to my eyes (like almost every song by R' Y.T. Ehrlich...). It's actually based on a true story on someone who was niftar recently, R' Yaakov Potash; whose story was publicized in one of the major Jewish magazines recently. Thanks!!

By the way, the Yiddish Gems series was arranged by Yaron Gershovsky, which explains the gorgeous orchestral musical arrangements. If you are understand Hebrew well, the double CD is a bargain at $20 on Mostly Music. Just sayin'.

I remember my aunt buying the (Yiddish) cassette for us with the full-size booklet which included the lyrics.
