Meloch - Shlomo Simcha

I came across this for the first time today. Your thoughts?

  1. Shlomo Simcha is probably one of the most underrated conventional Jew singers. He puts the "Tefilla" back into "Baal Tefilla". He is a mentsch of a man, an excellent Chazzan with quite a repertoire of Eh! songs like this one that merit an Ahh! for his performance anyway. Breathing is not impeccable which is actually nice to hear on such a plain song...

Always a master of tempered vibrato. Check 1:49 - 1:52 where he holds a straight note for three seconds before allowing the subtle vibrato.

  2. Just listened again, and it really is beautiful. I second Avi's comment, the man really has soul!

If it's not worth taking credit for, it's probably not worth saying!
