Waltz Efraim - Mona Rosenblum

It sounds like a classic Bobover niggun or the like but I don't specifically remember hearing it anywhere. Can it be a Mona composition? He's actually quite an underexposed composer and arranger. Very pretty song regardless...

Oidcha - Shlomo Simcha

My dad sang Kol Mekadesh Shevi'i to this. I tend to sing it with Mimkomach on R"H/Y"K. Still looking for the source. If you have it, give it to me. Song posted at the request of and on inspiration from MM.

UPDATE: It is a Modzitzer Niggun to the words "Omar Hashem l'Yaakov (Al Tira Avdi Yaakov)" - L. Purec

Akavya ben Mehalalel - Yossele

Very different then Koussevitzky's Akavya. Anyone have a recording, of them singing each others pieces?

Efshar Letaken - MBD

ולירושלים עירך

You ever wonder the history behind Moshe Kossueveitzky's Vile'Yerushalyim Ircha? Listen to the song, and then and hear him tell the story himself.

"און עס האט זיך געזונגען" I would like to see some of the modern day Chazzanim pull this off...

Jewish Child - Moshe Yess

YA comes through yet again. Thanks!

UPDATE: By popular request, I'm reposting this song (the original iMeem link is no longer usable). As I remember, YA gave us the studio version; I only have the 1981 Maple Street concert version. If you have the studio version, please email it to me!

PSA: Thank you!

The staff and fans of Shir Shel Yom thank YA for editing and color-correcting the 1981 Megama concert that is now available on YouTube. This represents the best Jewish music renaissance ever. Says I.

If anyone has the track "Jewish Child," please share!

Chukoseha - MBD

Back to basics. Random awesome track off of Moshiach-triangled, arguably MBD's most underrated recording. After Hold-On.

Also, for those sober enough to remember, we sang it for Shalisheedis.

Dudu Fisher

I was always under the impression that Dudu Fisher, can bring the house down at will. I've been going through everything I have from him, and he seems to be holding back in every song...He seems restrained, like he wants to blow it all open, but his trainer warned him against it. This following, are two examples. Elu Devorim (M. Koussevitzky) in its entirety, and the last piece of Tiher Rabbi Yishmoel (Z. Kwartin).

ביטע דערציילט מיר וואס איר טראכט אויף דעם. יישר כח

PSA: Thank you!

The staff and fans of Shir Shel Yom thank Peretz--a month late--for his beautiful masthead mural. For more, please visit Big Chair Design dot com.

Gutt fune Avrohom

Who doesn't like Gutt fune Avrohom? Not the Entity. I mean Him too, but the prayer! It's a beautiful prayer.

This is that prayer and it's sung to one of the most beautiful tunes. The two issues it has are: 1) the Singer's voice and 2) the general execution/arrangements, 'וכו.

Anyhoo, ignore the singer's voice. It's Yehuda (not to be confused with Yeduha) and when it isn't forty minutes to Shabbos I'll share my admiration for his overall musical prowess. But it is true that his voice sucks and he Goyifies the most Yiddish of tefillos with his atrocious הברה.

Bichlal, I was thinking that execution is a dying trade, but you can actually make a killing doing it!

For Ole' Times Sake...

If only I can find the Russian guy who sings "Kol Nidre" doing this piece...
